A SHOWCASE of talent will be one of the highlights at the forthcoming Blackheath Festival.

Children and young people are invited to take part in the talent show during the afternoon of the event on Saturday July 26.

There will also be a fun fair, live bands and children’s activities and stalls in the High Street, from 1pm until 6pm.

Other attractions will include mini-makeovers from Boots, a raffle and tombola and free meals at local eateries.

Admission is free and the event is part of Sandwell Council's Rowley Summer Festival in partnership with traders and the Black Country Housing Group, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Deputy town lead member for Rowley Regis, Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, said: "Last year's festival was a great success and I'm sure this year's will be bigger and better. We're all looking forward to seeing new local talent and having a great day out."

To take part in the talent show, which will be on stage from 2pm until 3pm, email youngpeople_services@sandwell.gov.uk or call 07940 471 584.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from 11am.
