UNEMPLOYED people met with prospective employers today at a jobs boost event staged in Cradley Heath.

Employment Plus invited businesses and employers to The Salvation Army centre, Meredith Street, to help those seeking work.

Angela Takyar contract manager for Employment Plus, said: “This is a great event to help those who are unemployed get introduced to many local businesses and employers.

“We believe it is the best way to lift people out of unemployment and give them independence. It is a holistic approach and, as The Salvation Army has all the tools in place to do the job, let’s do it.”

Major Samuel Edgar, divisional leader for The Salvation Army, added: “The Salvation Army has been helping those furthest from the labour market for more than 100 years and as a Christian Church and charity our aim and dedication in caring for those in need or vulnerable at this time remains our focus.”
