YOUNG cricket fans in Halesowen are being given the chance to win £250 worth of sports equipment for their school and a family ticket to thel T20 England v India match at Edgbaston.
The Spot the Cricket Ball competition, in association with Warwickshire County Cricket Club, has been launched by the Cornbow Shopping Centre branch OF Scrivens Opticians.
It is being run as an incentive for children to have free eye tests after national figures showed eye examination rates among under 15s have fallen to a 10 year low.
Scrivens Opticians branch manager Samuel Jones said: “We thought this would be a fun way to remind families to get their children’s eyes checked before they start back at school in the autumn. If unchecked, poor eyesight can affect children’s education as well as their overall development, so it’s really important to have regular eye checks.
The T20 England v India match takes place at Edgbaston on Sunday September 7 and the Spot the Ball competition is open to anyone under 16 years of age, with a closing date of August 20.
