A GOVERNOR at an Oldbury special school is celebrating after adding to the area’s brace of Commonwealth Games’ triumphs with a gold medal.
Runner Mikail Huggins guided blind Scottish athlete Libby Clegg to first past the finishing post in the 100m for visually impaired competitors.
Proud Gordon Phillips, principal of the Meadows Sports College special school, sent him a message of congratulations from pupils, staff, students and fellow governors.
The pair’s success followed a silver medal gained in the 2012 Paralympic Games, and Libby, aged 25, and Mikail, aged 30, were the toast of Glasgow after taking Team Scotland’s tally of gold medals to 13 on Monday night.
