THE Mayor of Dudley has recruited a team of young cadets to join her army of volunteers.

Young people from the Dudley detachment of the Staffordshire and West Midlands (North Sector) Army Cadet Force are ambassadors for the Mayor, Councillor Margaret Aston, and her charity work, and will spend a year championing her work, promoting the importance of volunteering and helping to pull in funds.

The cadets will also accompany the borough’s first citizen at civic events and be part of fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

Councillor Margaret Aston, Mayor of Dudley, said: “Young people have such a positive role to play in the borough. Many go above and beyond to give up their spare time to help other people.

“I am delighted the young cadets have agreed to work with us to promote the importance of charity and the work they do to help people in most need.”

The Mayor’s charities this year are – Guide Dogs and Dudley based Action Heart.
