ACCORDION duo Igor and Oleskiy struck a chord with audiences in Rowley Regis, raising hundreds of pounds to help victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Children from the devastated region in Ukraine are still being born with disabilities 28 years later.

The Kiev duo returned for their third annual concert for the Black Country Accordion Club on Monday July 28 as part of their UK tour and raised £615 for the Hippokrat Society which helps the young victims.

Club secretary Lou Ambrose said an auction and a raffle were held with donations from various supporters including the Geoff Hill Charity Trust and Broadfield House Glass Museum artist Alister Malcolm A further £100 was donated to Cancer Research UK and £50 to Starlight Children's Foundation.
