BLACKHEATH-based social business Black Country Housing Group has earned Investors in People gold ranking.

The status put the organisation in the top seven per cent of businesses recognised as investing in their workforce.

The award is given to those which invest in their employees, supporting their careers and encouraging personal development.

The housing group employs more than 200 staff and provides affordable housing, employment advice as well as personalised care and support services.

During the past year, it has enhanced its staff engagement action plan and over the coming year plans to boost the links it has with schools, raising the profile of a career in housing and organising work experience placements for young people.

Investors in People assessor Pauline Price said: “A genuine considerate attitude is a visible presence throughout the organisation. Within BCHG, a caring ethos with core key values and operating principles underpin the quality of care and support provided.

“Privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment are all at the heart of this organisation and its recognition to gold status is well deserved.”

Carrie Thomas, BCHG’s head of human resources said personal development and wellbeing of staff was of “utmost importance”.

She added: With our staff training programmes and team engagement awards we make sure that all of our people are given the support to fulfil their potential as well as equipping them with the skills to help us to deliver our commitment to investing in the local communities that we serve.”
