A SPURNED Halesowen lover who assaulted his former girlfriend and her baby before threatening to drown her kitten has been
locked up for eight months.
Brad Cox went to the home of the victim just days after being hit with a restraining order forbidding him from having any contact
with her whatsoever, said Mr Paul Mytton prosecuting.
He said the 20-year-old told her that if there was another man on the premises he would beat her up before grabbing her by the
throat and pushing her against a wall.
Cox then threw a scart lead that struck her young child but fortunately neither she or the toddler were hurt, Wolverhampton Crown
Court was told.
After leaving the property Cox then made a string of abusive calls to the young woman and he threatened to smash all the windows in her home.
"She plainly has every good reason to feel frightened," said Mr Mytton who claimed the woman no longer went out for fear of bumping into
Cox.
In a victim impact statement she later told police officers: "I want him to stop and leave me alone."
But then, after being arrested
and bailed, Cox returned to her home, he was once again abusive and he threatened to drown her kitten.
Cox of Chapel House Lane, Colley Gate had admitted two breaches of the restraining order but he denied another breach and two
charges of common assault.
He was found guilty at trial on the other three charges and sent by Judge Michael Challinor to a Young Offenders Institution to complete his sentence.
The Judge warned Cox that unless he left the victim alone he would go straight back into custody adding: "You are a young man. You should be out enjoying life. You must avoid any further prosecution."
Mr Timothy Talbot-Webb defending said the pair had been in a turbulent relationship and they got back together after splitting up acrimoniously. Cox, he went on, was a young man with a temper and it had never been his intention to cause any harm.
