A COUPLE from Oldbury who admitted producing cannabis have been given the chance to prove to a court the controlled drug was purely for their personal use.
Matthew Wood and Lisa Wood were caught growing 19 cannabis plants which the prosecution maintain were capable of producing around £18,000 worth of the drug.
But the pair from Pottery Road, Oldbury - they have admitted cultivating the drug - have both stressed the cannabis was only going to be smoked by themselves.
Recorder Graham Kelly has told them they must appear before a Newton Hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, October 17 when evidence will be called by both the prosecution and their defence to determine the issue.
Mr Iain Suggett representing 27-year-old Matthew Wood and Lisa Wood, aged 26, said they had no previous convictions at all relating to the use or possession of drugs.
