ARTISTS are being urged to be inspired by Rowley and enter an art competition.

St Giles Church is organising the compeition and the art will be displayed in an exhibition at the church in October.

There are four categories to enter - Scenery of Rowley, People of Rowley, Wildlife of Rowley and Leisure in Rowley.

Joyce Walker, from St Giles Church, said: "Following the positive comments we received after the talent show earlier in the year about the talent we have here in Rowley we thought it would be good to highlight more of the ability we have."

"We want the community to get involved in this competition and this project has been made possible with grant funding from Sandwell Council."

Each category has three age groups five-11-years-old, 12-16-years-old and 16-year-old plus with each category having a winner from each age group.

There will also be cash prizes with 12 winners of £10 each plus one overall winner of £100.

Competition is open to residents and school children of Rowley and Blackheath and a 2015 calendar will be compiled from the art work.
