TWO Halesowen fundraisers collected £1,700 for a cancer charity by taking part in the Birmingham Bikeathon.
Clinton Field, aged 39, of Firth Park Crescent, challenged himself to the event’s 100 mile route to raise more than £700 for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Meanwhile, mum-of-one Sharon Maguire, aged 33, of Clivedon Way, donated more than £1,000 after being sponsored to do the 26-mile route.
The charity is close to both their hearts as Mr Field’s wife, Natalie, and Cousin’s six-year-old daughter have survived their own battles with the diseases and Mrs Maguire lost her uncle to leukaemia a week after the birth of her daughter in 2011.
