WORLD War II buffs are being invited to Haden Hill Museum this weekend to see a brand new exhibition about the conflict.

The Hideous Histories weekend is aimed at all ages and includes artefacts, music, food tasting and a children's workshop.

Visitors are being encouraged to don a costume and join in the fun from 11am and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and the Cradley Heath museum.

Jane Hanney, museum services manager, said: "Young and old visitors can come along for a nostalgic look at life in World War II and enjoy live music, food tasting, children's craft activities and hands-on fun."

The museum also announced its Autumn programme of events and altered opening hours, from 12-4pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 11am until 3pm on Sundays.

Miss Hanney added: "As the nights draw in the museum's opening hours change to ensure visitors can come along and enjoy the house and park in the daylight.

"We also have a fabulous series of autumnal antics and events and activities during the autumn period and there will be small themed events every Sunday from 11am-3pm throughout October and November."

On Sunday, October 12 and 19, beautiful birds of prey will be on display at the museum and there will be also a craft fair on both days.

To mark Halloween on Sunday, October 26, there will be an afternoon of pumpkin fun with the chance to carve a pumpkin for Halloween, follow a pumpkin trail and discover pumpkin recipes.

On Sunday, November 2, there will be a children's table top sale.

Miss Hanney added: "This event is run by the children for the children and is a good opportunity to have a clear out of all your unwanted toys, games and books, then book a stall at our bring and buy sale and bring it along to sell.

On November 9 and 16 World War I will take centre stage with the story of the poppy being explored and Ian Casey singing poems and reading poetry.

On Sunday, November 23 there will be a children's Christmas card workshop and on Sunday, November 29 there will be a Victorian themed A Christmas Carol funday.
