BRAVE cancer victim Tim Wright, who has been battling Hodgkins Lymphoma for the past two years, is holding a fundraising concert this weekend.

Despite going through completing four different chemotherapy regimes the big hearted 53-year-old transport manager from Old Hill still raises funds for charity.

Through the help of family, friends and work colleagues, Tim has already raised in the region of £3,250 for the Georgina Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund at Russells Hall Hospital and another £1,500 for Cancer UK.

Now his 21-year-old daughter Amy, who is a talented musician, has organised a second charity concert at Holy Trinity Church in Halesowen Road, Old Hill this Saturday at 7pm with award winning Bilton Silver Band from Rugby.

Amy became a member of the band as part of her music degree while attending Coventry University, from which she gained a BA honours degree in music performance.

Funds raised from the concert will be split between the Georgina Fund and Holy Trinity's Regeneration Fund.

Tim confirmed: "We're hoping to raise £2,000 from the event.

"Amy has already staged one charity concert with the band as part of her degree which brought in over £1,000.

Tim's brother Pete has also boosted funds for the appeal by staging a year long charity campaign through his work.

Sister Helen has also got in on the act by raising sponsorship after twice competing in the 'Race for Life'.

Despite enduring a traumatic two years, Tim remains remarkably upbeat.

He claimed: "The first two chemo's made the cancer regress, but in both cases, it came back within a matter of weeks.

"The third chemo, which was a brand new drug, gave me acute pancreatitis and nearly killed me.

"I've now managed to recover from that and go through my fourth chemo, which has reduced the cancer, good enough to allow a third party stem cell transplant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This is the only treatment that can now cure me.

"I go in for the transplant on October 20th, my donor being a 23 year old woman from Germany whose stem cells will be flown over the night before I receive them.

"I will then spend between four to six weeks in isolation at the QE and it's anticipated a full recovery will take between 12 t5o 15 months".

Tickets for the concert cost £10 and can be obtained on the door or by contacting 01384 560136.
