LOCAL heats of the Young Chef of the Year competition are being hosted by Halesowen College next month.

Wannabe master chefs have to plan a two course healthy meal - a starter and main course - for two people, costing less than £11.

Those who are shortlisted will be cook for the judges on Saturday November 29 and the winner will go through to the area final in January.

The competition is open to young people in full time education aged between 11 and 17 on August 31 and is sponsored by Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club in association with Fillippo Berio.

Deadline for entries is Friday October 24 and entry details are on the College website.
