DUDLEY borough people are being urged to take extra care as dark winter nights draw in.

Transport chiefs from Dudley Council have launched a new campaign called Be Bright Be Seen to encourage people to make sure motorists see them when they are out walking, running and cycling.

Campaigners are encouraging people to wear brightly coloured clothing when they are out early in the morning and at dusk and also to wear reflective gear at night and ensure bikes have proper working lights.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley cabinet member for transportation, said: “The darker nights means that visibility is often reduced for both motorists and pedestrians and cyclists as well.”

“People can take very simple steps to make sure they are visible to motorists by making sure they can be seen and taking extra care when crossing the road.”
