POPULAR priest the Rev Canon Robert Jones – who was inspired for a life in the church during his childhood in Halesowen – has become the new Archdeacon of Worcester.
Worcester Cathedral was packed with around 800 people as Bishop, the Rt Rev John Inge, installed him into his new role.
The new archdeacon, aged 59, who spent most of his early years in Lapal, said it was in the church there that he was inspired to go into the priesthood.
After serving at churches in Kidderminster, Dudley and Worcester , he has most recently been director of development, heading up the team responsible for clergy and lay training across the diocese.
