A COMMUNITY-spirited Halesowen firm has boosted the town’s ‘go for gold’ bid in next year’s Britain in Bloom contest with £1,000 sponsorship.

Customer Technology Solutions’ donation has funded the lion’s share of the winter bedding plants to give an early splash of colour around the town centre.

Halesowen in Bloom chairman Eve O’Connor said pansies had been planted around the clock and flagpole in Somers Square and in troughs along Queensway and alongside the Old George pub.

She added: “We are very grateful to the company for their support in helping to make the town even more colourful.”

Andy Perry, sales and marketing manager of the Mucklow Hill-based firm, said CTS was keen to fulfil its social responsibility as an employer in the town.

“We are more than happy to support Halesowen in Bloom in its bid to go for gold and improve the environment.”

Halesowen was awarded a highly- prized silver gilt in its first entry into Britain in Bloom this year and organisers are aiming for gold in 2015.
