ROWLEY Campus has been re-opened for community use more than a year after it shut.

Sandwell Leisure Trust pulled out of the contract it had taken when the £49 million campus opened in 2011 to run the facilities as a leisure centre out of school hours in August last year.

Interserve, which manages the campus, made up of St Michael’s CE High School, Westminster Special School and the Whiteheath Education Centre, is now operating and managing the facility hire in partnership with Kajima Community.

Samantha Bell, from Kajima – a project developer and property investor - said: “We already have dance classes with Fusion Dance on Saturday mornings which children are welcome to join and lots of children’s parties booked through until next year.

“Plenty of football clubs are taking the opportunity to use our floodlit all weather pitch too.” From January, the Albion Foundation are bringing their Future Baggies sessions to the campus on Tuesdays at 5.30pm for three to four-year-olds.

Ms Bell added: “Our aim is to attract clubs and organisations across Sandwell and the surrounding areas to hire the facilities and provide a whole host of activities for local people to join in with.”

They are keen to attract bookings from people wanting to run classes including fitness, zumba, yoga or education. For more information visit www.rowleycampus@schoolbookings.co.uk
