OLDBURY Rep's annual pantomime Mother Goose has laid a golden egg for charity.

The cast and volunteers held a collection at the end of each of the ten performances and raised over £1,000 for charity.

Audiences dug deep to raise cash for Edgbaston charity Little Hearts Matter which supports children, and their families, who have been diagnosed with faulty hearts.

The charity currently is helping 3,500 children across the country and organises days out and other activities for families affected by their child's heart problems.

The traditional pantomime was the centrepiece of the theatre's 76th season and has been written by company member Mark Stokes.

Alan Wood, from the Oldbury Rep, said: "We are pleased to be able to support Little Hearts Matter and other charities throughout the year which is only possible due to the generosity of our audiences in these difficult times."
