A MAN was seriously injured at the sprawling Palmer Timber site in Old Hill yesterday (Monday).

The Midlands Air Ambulance had to airlift the man, who had serious injuries to his head, arm and leg, to hospital.

An ambulance, an ambulance officer, a rapid response vehicle from the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were dispatched to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “West Midlands Ambulance Service can confirm it was called to industrial premises on Station Road in Old Hill at approximately 4pm.

"Crews arrived to find a man who had suffered serious injuries to his head, arm and leg."

She added: "The man was treated at the scene and given pain relief before being airlifted to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.”

Palmer Timber is one of the biggest timber merchants in the country with a 13 acre site in Old Hill which has been distributing wood for nearly 100 years.

A spokesman for Palmer Timber the confirmed an incident had occurred at the site but said the Health and Safety Executive were dealing with it.
