THE splendour of Halesowen beauty spot The Leasowes is going to be at the mercy of youngsters this Easter break with a plethora of organised events.

Dudley Council has organised a variety of activities to keep children and young people occupied during the holidays.

There will be treasure hunts, pond dipping, eye-opening introductions to wildlife and a chance to learn more about the creepy crawlies which inhabit the 141 acre park.

John Millar, acting strategic director for environment, economy and housing, said: “We’re offering lots of fun and interesting activities to keep families busy this Easter in our nature reserves and parks.

“For more information about the great outdoors in Dudley borough people can view our let’s get active outdoors programme at www.lets-get.com.”

Kicking off the holidays at the Halesowen beauty spot on Monday there will be two chances to hunt around the woodland, led by the wardens, to solve puzzles, complete fun activities and collect natural items along the way to find Easter treasure.

The cost is £4 per child.

Two pond dipping sessions are being held on Wednesday when an alien underwater world of strange creatures will be on show for youngsters.

Mr Millar added: "Help the wildlife in your own garden this summer and make a home for birds, bats, bugs or bees to take home with the help of the wardens in the creature comforts sessions on Wednesday, April 8, the cost is £4 per box.

"There is a search for hidden wildlife in a bug hunting session on Friday, April 10. With the help of the wardens discover mini beasts in trees, log piles, long grass and under stones. Cost is £2 per child."

There are two timeslots for each of the above sessions. Morning events start at 10am and run until noon. The afternoon sessions start at 1pm and finish at 3pm.
