HALESOWEN Choral Society is tuning up for an epic concert featuring two other choral groups and the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra.
Together with the Brierley Hill and Elmdon choral societies, they will present Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah, which premiered in Birmingham in 1846.
The work was modelled on oratorios by Baroque masters Bach and Handel, but also reflected Mendelssohn’s own genius as an early Romantic composer.
Halesowen Choral Society publicity officer Pam Kerr said: “It is a big event for us and promises to be a great evening.”
The concert, at St Paul’s Church, Blackheath, is on Saturday April 25 at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £10, will be available on the door.
