IT is supposed to be bad luck if you open an umbrella indoors, but for Martin Dunn it means he can at least go to the toilet without getting soaked.

The Glasgow Housing Association tenant has got water dripping from a most inconvenient part of the ceiling.

Mr Dunn, 42, and girlfriend Kelly Docherty, 26, live on the ninth floor of a 12-storey block in Rosemount Street, Royston.

He said: "Water is leaking from the toilet in the flat above and is coming through the ceiling, including over the light fitting, and on to whoever sits on my toilet.

"This has happened twice in recent months.

"We have to dry ourselves every time we go to the bathroom and the floor is always soaking. The water was pouring down before the plumbers came, and was still dripping heavily a day later.

"It is coming over the lightbulb and that is a worry. We are not sure if it is safe to touch the light switch so we have been going in the dark."

Mr Dunn said a plumber attended the flat the same day he contacted GHA and the workman managed to slow the leak.

However, when the Evening Times visited, the water was still dripping every two to three seconds through the light fitting.

The water is thought to have been left over in the floor and will eventually dry up.

David Gray, community housing manager at Royston Corridor Homes, said: "We have done everything possible to remedy the situation.

"When Mr Dunn reported this to us, GHA immediately arranged for our contractors to repair the leak and ensure the electrics were safe.

"In the last six months Mr Dunn has reported two leaks to us. These have been caused from flats above and GHA has carried out repairs within 24 hours."
