NEW voices are wanted to swell the ranks of a popular Cradley Heath singing group for boys and girls as they gear up for a busy season.

Pure Harmony, the junior section of the well-known adult choir Voices in Harmony, has a record number of bookings over the next three months at social events, fundraisers and concerts, performing a variety of folk, classical, gospel, pop and show tunes.

Their bookings include singing at the St George’s Day celebrations in Halesowen town centre on April 25 and joint concerts with the Warley Male Choir at the Cornbow Hall on May 9 and Voices in Harmony at Hasbury Methodist Church on June 13.

Leader Eleanor Rushbury, a Sandwell primary school teacher, said: “There is still plenty of time for new members to learn the songs we will be singing at these events, so if you are aged 8 to 16 and want to try something new for the summer term then you are very welcome to join and it’s free.

“The young people make good friends and love singing together.”

Mrs Rushbury, who has worked with the choir for the last four years, said it was sounding its best ever.

She added: “We would love new members to come and try us out next term and see what fun we can have singing together.”

Pure Harmony meets during term times on Monday nights from 6.30pm until 7.30pm at Lawrence Lane Methodist Church and returns from the Easter break on Monday April 13.
