Sandwell police are searching for a silver private hire taxi which knocked a young motorcyclist off his bike, leaving him with serious leg injuries, in Rowley Regis. The 21 year-old was rushed to hospital for treatment following the crash, on Springfield Lane, shortly before 5am on Saturday, April 4. Doctors confirmed the motorcyclist had broken his leg, leaving him in splints for several weeks, as a result of the crash. The driver of the taxi failed to stop following the crash and police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area or who may know of the vehicle involved. Read more on the Halesowen News here.

A disabled man in Droitwich is in shock after having his collection of birds he has been building for decades, stolen from an enclosure in his back garden. Adrian Wycherley, who suffers from spina bifida and diabetes, has been collecting birds for approximately 40 years, and has trained a number of them to talk. Three of the birds, two African grey parrots, and a cockatiel were stolen from a shed in Mr Wycherley’s back garden in Stalls Farm Road on Saturday, April 11, just after 9pm. Waiting times at the Alexandra Hospital have increased again as statistics showed the figures across England were at the worst level in more than a decade. Figures released on Tuesday, April 7, showed the amount of patients seen, treated and either sent home or admitted to hospital within the NHS-mandated four hour target had fallen to its lowest level since 2004. Although government targets say the target should be met in at least 95 per cent of cases, the national figure for the week ending Sunday, March 29 stood at 92 per cent. Severn Valley Railway was given the Royal seal of approval yesterday (Monday, April 13) when HRH the Princess Royal visited to help celebrate its Golden year. Princess Anne made her first visit to the Kidderminster tourist attraction to help it celebrate its 50th anniversary. Locomotives were buffed and polished up in preparation for her visit to the Railway, during which she met a range of staff, volunteers, founding members and apprentices, as well as riding on the footplate of one of the Railway’s much-loved heritage steam engines, No. 7812 Erlestoke Manor.
