Jobs are under threat at college campuses in Stourbridge, Brierley Hill and Kidderminster - Birmingham Metropolitan College's boss has confirmed.

Andrew Cleaves, B-Met principal and CEO, announced today that up to 250 posts could be made redundant by the end of the academic year in a bid to cut costs.

Staff at all campuses were informed of the risks to their jobs earlier today.

Former Conservative leader William Hague has been lending a hand to Tory candidates on the campaign trail in Dudley.

During a visit to Wall Heath to support Conservative candidates Cllr Mike Wood (Dudley South) and Cllr Les Jones (Dudley North), the former Foreign Secretary and leader of the House of Commons told journalists the party's prospects in the General Election are "extremely good in Dudley".

A leading councillor’s son has been arrested in Oldbury by police in an on-going fraud probe.

Oldbury Councillor Mahboob Hussain's son Azeem Hafeez was arrested after the Regional Fraud Team mounted raids on two addresses in the borough.

One of the properties was the home of former deputy leader of Sandwell Council, Cllr Hussain.

Kidderminster Harrier's major shareholders have pledged to pay the club’s financial obligations until the end of the season.

Barry Norgrove, Neil Savery and Jane Murrant have agreed to pay the bills for the cash-strapped club after a meeting with the board of directors.

Kidderminster have suffered major cash flow isuses as they struggled to meet their commitment to their hefty wage bill.

A national campaign, Read On, Get on, aims to get every child reading well by the age of 11.

Giovanni Esposito, better known as Spoz, who has previously been a poet laureate and published a poetry book The Day The Earth Grew Hair, is supporting the campaign.

Fast food giant Burger King has opened a brand new restaurant in Redditch’s Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

The eatery, based in units 16 to 18, will create more than 30 new jobs and has space for 80 customers.
