A THREE-year-old Halesowen boy came close to eating an unidentified creepy crawly spotted on his plate of Asda’s own brand baked beans.

Horrified mum Samantha Hoseason grabbed little Jacob’s tea of beans of toast from him, but was worried in case his older brother and sister had unknowingly eaten any others.

The dead tomato sauce-covered nasty is now being analysed by the supermarket giant.

Sophie, aged eight, and Alfie, aged four, had finished their meal at their Coombs Road home, when Jacob suddenly said “I’m not eating that”.

Miss Hoseason said: “At first I just thought it was a black bean and told him to get on with it – but when I looked I was disgusted.

“It was horrible and I was really worried that the others might have eaten one without realising and be ill.”

Jacob is now refusing to eat his meals off his previously much-loved Thomas the Tank engine plate.

She took it back to Asda’s Halesowen store and was refunded the £1.17 cost of the pack of four tins of own brand Chosen by You.

“I threw the other tins away – that brand certainly won’t be my choice ever again.”

Asda’s senior press officer Andrew Devoy said: “Investigations into products can take anywhere up to 40 days depending on the origin and nature of complaint.

“I can confirm that our investigations team received the foreign body on April 15 and are currently still investigating the claim.”
