THE main Stourbridge to Lye road has been closed to traffic after a lorry hit a railway bridge.

Stourbridge Road from its junction with Bagley Street to its junction with Dudley Road/Pedmore Road has been closed to eastbound motorists following the incident and police are directing traffic along Bagley Street, Caledonia, and Pedmore Road.

Traffic travelling westbound from Lye to Stourbridge is permitted but may be hit by delays.

Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route.

Network Rail has tweeted that trains to Birmingham Snow Hill may be affected and engineers are currently assessing the bridge.

The road is expected to be re-opened in two to three hours.
