CARNIVAL organisers will be out in force in Halesowen town centre collecting money and outlining plans for this year’s revival after an absence of almost 30 years.

Plans of the Huntingtree Park showground will be displayed on Saturday and shoppers can meet the new carnival queen, 18-year-old Grace Dunham plus, special guest Joyce Knowles, aged 81, who was Halesowen Borough carnival queen in 1957, between 11am and 1pm.

Carnival chairman Simon Walker, who is also searching for the last carnival queen, believed to be in 1983, a couple of years before the event was finally scrapped, said: “I’m delighted Joyce will be with us on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Blackheath Products, Teamworks Karting, Castle and Crystal Credit Union and Hyflex Roofing have answered calls for financial help or offers of raffle prizes towards the costs of the carnival, planned for Saturday July 4.

Anyone who can help in any way should email halesowencarnival@gmail.com or ring/text Mr Walker on 07884 061 724.
