OLDBURY Civic Square will play host to the borough’s Armed Forces Day parade and medal ceremony on Saturday (June 27).

Veterans in Sandwell will be presented with medals by the mayor, Councillor Barbara Price, following the parade which starts at 11.30am.

Free family fun is lined up from 12.15pm until 4pm including a drill by air cadets, bhangra music and dhol drummers, children’s rides and songs by Maggie O'Hara, Kia, Steve Marks, Brandhall Community Choir, and Sandwell District Scout Choir as well as music by the Ukulele Union.

Roads in Oldbury will be closed while the parade takes place and Freeth Street will ne close from 9am until 6pm. The parade will form on Low Town car park at 11am and process via Birmingham Street and Halesowen Street. Church Street will also be closed The roads along which the parade will travel will re-open immediately after the event which is expected to be no later than 12.30pm.
