SANDWELL Council are putting on a host of activities for the summer holidays in parks across Sandwell for six weeks.

Activities are open to young people and families and will start from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, August 30.

They will be held at Barnford Park in Oldbury and Britannia Park in Rowley Regis as well as other parks across the borough.

Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children’s services said: “When we asked young people what they wanted from the council they told us they wanted more things to do during the summer holidays.

“That’s why we have organised these activities in our parks and we hope they will be enjoyed by young people and families across Sandwell."

He added: “There’s a real variety of activities planned from football to music, from dance to storytelling. We just need to hope the good weather holds out now.”

The programme will run mainly on Monday to Friday between 9am to 6pm with some evening and weekend activities.

There will be all kinds of activities for young people to get involved in from cricket, football, tennis and much more. The Youth Service bus will host DJ sessions and other activities for young people.

Wake up and Shake up sessions which are part of the Change for Life campaign and sponsored by Disney, will run every day in the mornings in all parks.

Libraries will be putting on storytelling sessions and the mobile library will also be on site in some parks.

There will be music and dance, food activities, picnics, fun fairs and much more.

Young people will need to register to take part in activities online www.sandwell.gov.uk/summer and they will also be able to register on the day.

Further activities will be added to the website throughout the six weeks so keep checking for updates..
