TREASURE hunters were busy bees in Halesowen as part of the town’s Britain in Bloom bid.

Eight-year-old Carys Groucott was one of five winners in this year’s competition in which contestants had to hunt down the names of bees displayed in shop windows.

The bees were made by children at Halesowen Library’s Saturday craft sessions and Carys, from Wordsley, entered whilst signing up for the library’s summer reading challenge.

Organiser Halesowen North councillor Hilary Bills said: “This year’s Family Treasure Hunt was a great success and played an important part in the success of Halesowen in Bloom.”

She added: “The treasure hunt encourages different groups within the community to work together for the good of the town.

“Halesowen In Bloom are grateful to Dixons Estate Agents, Eye-Society opticians, Dees Ladies Fashions, The Flower Barrow, Less4Ink, Alan Warwick the butchers, Smith’s Electrical and Jupiter Dry Cleaners for displaying the bees in their shop windows.”
