A VJ Day Commemoration Service in Oldbury will be led by Sandwell mayor Councillor Barbara Price on Sunday (August 16).
She and deputy mayor Councillor Julie Webb will attend a short ceremony at the town’s war memorial in the Civic Square at 10.30am.
Members of the public are invited to join veterans from the Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association and Royal Air Force Association as they mark the 70th anniversary of the day World War Two finally came to an end.
Young people representing navy, army and air force cadets will stand alongside the veterans.
A single wreath will be laid on behalf of the Burma Star Association to remember those who lost their lives during the conflict in the Far East.
