A FIREFIGHTER and Halesowen councillor teamed up with a brigade colleague to ‘Brave the Shave’ for charity.

Halesowen North councillor Stuart Henley is hoping his sponsored head shave, in memory of his mother, will raise hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer support

His mum, Susan Harris, a popular assistant and lollipop lady at Huntingtree Primary School, was just 62 when she lost her fight against cancer in February 2014.

Cllr Henley, based at Dudley Fire Station and Haden Cross crew commander Dominic Rose, raising money for the charity in memory of his grandmother and grandfather, had their heads shaved at the Long Lane barber’s shop last week.

Cllr Henley said his “Brave the Shave” was in memory of his mum and all the other people he knows who have suffered from cancer.

Mr Rose added: “Shaving my head is a small gesture to stand proud with people dealing with this terrible illness."

Supermarket worker Thomas Siviter, from Halesowen, has also supported Macmillan’s Brave the Shave campaign and raised almost £200 so far.

Mr Siviter, of Mendip Road, who works at Tesco, Stourbridge, said: “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and I wanted to do this to raise money to help.”
