ALL the pomp of the proms is coming to Haden Hill House Museum this month.

A Proms in the Park afternoon concert on Sunday, September 13, will be the culmination of a series of national Heritage Open Days at the Cradley Heath museum.

Alison Hyatt, visitor services officer, said: "There will be an afternoon of music to suit lots of tastes and plenty of songs and tunes you will all know and love.

"Join us for a fabulous afternoon of live music with jazz and soul tunes to get you bopping with Martinique Jazz during the afternoon followed by easy listening and crooner tunes from the ever popular Ian Casey and finally rousing classics from Halesowen Brass Band in true flag waving proms style to end the evening."

She added: "Why not bring a picnic, some chairs and your flags and banners and spend an afternoon here and enjoy the free live music."

Jane Hanney, museum services manager, added: "Music events are always extremely popular in the park and it is fantastic to see our visitors really enjoying themselves.

"Meanwhile visitors can enjoy a rare chance to see inside Haden Hall on September 12 and 13 between 2pm and 5:30pm, the restored 17th century farmhouse semi-detached to Haden Hill house which is only open several times each year.

"Our volunteers have spent a lot of time and hard work painting parts of the house in historic colours for visitors to see."

She added: "Also visitors to Haden Hill House on September 10 and 11 between 11am and 3pm can go behind the red rope and get a chance to step inside our Victorian library usually only viewed from the other side of red rope with our curator/artist Jo Loki, get a glimpse at the collection store in the attic and see objects, documents and photos never seen before as part of a project to share information about the family who once lived at the house."

All these events as part of Heritage Open Days are free and for more details visit www.sandwell.gov.uk/museumevents or call 01384 569 444.
