OLDBURY Rep begins its 77th Season with the classic whodunit The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie.

The thriller is set in a foggy country estate in Wales.

The mystery begins when a stranger, lost in the fog, walks into the study of Richard and Laura Warwick to find a man dead.

Gazing around the darkened room he sees a woman standing in the shadows, she is the dead man’s wife and has a revolver in her hand.

It appears to be an open and shut case. But the woman is dazed and confused and her confession is unconvincing, did she really do it?

Her husband was a tyrant and made many enemies over the years. The police are called in to investigate but are baffled and a Pandora’s Box of love, hate, suspicion and intrigue is opened.

This is a classic Agatha Christie thriller with a houseful of suspects who have both the motive and opportunity to have carried out the crime.

There are red herrings and twists galore, enough to keep all you budding Hercule Poirot’s and Miss Marple’s guessing until the very end and just when you think you know the answer can you really be certain who did it?
