A ‘SHOP window’ to the world is being launched to show the best Halesowen has to offer.

The town’s chamber of trade has set up a website to promote the town centre to attract more shoppers and visitors.

This week’s launch coincides with the publication of the chamber’s first quarterly newsletter, containing updates and forthcoming events, which is being distributed to 250 businesses.

Chamber chairman Wayne Edwards said the new features were part of a move to improve communication between the chamber and traders and to help boost the economy of the town.

As part of the launch, the chamber is encouraging businesses to get involved by being listed on the website.

Mr Edwards said: “Basic membership for traders is free and will help all visitors discover what attractions and services are available in the town.”

But he is also hoping many small businesses, who do not have their own website, will take up the opportunity to feature on the new site for £50 a year, giving them an even better “shop window to the world”.

He added: “If Halesowen’s residents continue to support local business, we can really get the West Midlands economy moving again, creating more jobs for local people. It’s something we’re truly passionate about.”

The website can be viewed at www.halesowentowncentre.co.uk and the chamber is also encouraging people to support the site by following on Twitter @HalesowenT and liking it on the halesowentowncentre Facebook page.
