The Highfields Lighthouse Project, Halesowen, is getting set to run IT courses after the opening of its brand new computer suite.

The project, located in Andrew Road, is running courses aimed at all levels.

First Steps is a fun course for the complete beginner covering areas such as how to turn a computer on and off, how to create word documents and how to use a printer. This will run every Friday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Step into Net is an introduction to the internet, consisting of five sessions from first time online up to how to use eBay. This course will run every Tuesday morning from 9.30am until 11.30am.

An IT Workshop will run on Tuesday afternoons from 12.45pm until 2.45pm for people with more specific problems and questions.

All courses are free and places are still available. People are also welcome to drop-in and use the computers and internet free of charge all day everyday.

For those who have young children, a creche is available during the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays which runs from 9.15am to 11.45am and from 12.30pm to 3.00pm. There is a small charge but currently the project is running a buy one session get another one free offer.

The Lighthouse Project provides a safe and welcoming environment where people can meet, find support and access opportunities.

It is open to everyone Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and all the courses and support are free of charge.
