A CHRISTIAN centre is appealing for people to “stuff the sleigh” with Christmas treats for Halesowen people in need when they go along to a festive production on Sunday.

More than 1,000 people are expected to visit the Zion Christian Centre to watch one of four showings of music, dance and carols throughout the day.

The shows, featuring about 30 Zion members, will be staged in The Venue a temporary hub for church activities on the Little Cornbow site after the main building was hit by a major blaze three months ago.

Senior pastor Rev Leon Evans said: “There was such a lot of generosity from the community after the fire that we wanted to give something back.”

The church hopes donations of festive treats, such as chocolates, biscuits and cake, will make up 500 hampers which members will distribute next week.

The shows, also called Stuff the Sleigh, will be staged at 9.30am, 11.30am. 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets on the door are £2 which will go to the appeal.
