AN Oldbury school has become one of the first in Sandwell to be awarded a quality mark for literacy and basic skills.

Bristnall Hall Academy has been accredited the Quality Mark Award for Literacy and Basic Skills after impressing assessors with its literacy work across all subjects.

Basic Skills Agency UK assessor Les McDowall, said tits literacy vision was "a good example of how the school sets clear expectations based on quality and standards across the wider curriculum". Principal Vince Green said the drive for excellence in essential skills such as literacy and numeracy would continue to allow pupils to achieve their full potential.

He added: “By working with our young people today, we can ensure that they possess the necessary skills in order to thrive in the world of tomorrow, whether this is in further education or the world of work and beyond.”
