A FORMER Manchester United winger will prove the star turn when Stourbridge Football Club stage another of their popular ‘sportsmen’s evenings’.

Keith Gillespie, who also graced the likes of Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Sheffield United in a glittering career, while also making 86 appearances for Northern Ireland, will appear at the War Memorial Ground in Amblecote.

He was also part of the Northern Ireland side that sensationally beat England during qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

Gillespie played under some of the most revered football managers such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Kevin Keegan and Graham Souness.

He also featured alongside many great footballing names such as Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona, Alan Shearer and David Ginola to name but a few.

Gillespie is sure to have many entertaining stories to tell from his career which also saw him play north and south of the Irish border for Glentoran and Longford Town.

The evening takes place on Friday, February 26 at the Glassboys Bar starting at 7pm and also includes entertainment from comedian Austin Knight in addition to Irish bingo, a raffle and auction, while food will be supplied from the French Deli.
