GOVERNORS at a Rowley Regis special school are top of the class after earning a national award for excellence.
The board of governors at The Westminster School has been awarded the Governor Mark – a National Governors Association approved quality standard.
It recognises high quality governance demonstrated by the board and highlights areas of best practice which assessors were especially impressed with.
Fewer than 50 secondary schools in the country have achieved the award, which rigorously assesses governing boards to make sure they go above and beyond their statutory duties.
Headteacher Christine Hill said: “We have an extremely supportive governing board which works exceptionally hard for all of our pupils.
“We are delighted that they have received this award and their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to The Westminster School has been recognised nationally.”
The school caters for more than 170 pupils aged seven to 19, with a complex range of special needs.
