TO celebrate the life and works of pop icon Prince music licensing company PPL has released an official chart of the Most Played Prince Tracks of the 21st century.

The singer/songwriter's sudden death last Thursday has left fans heartbroken with many mourning the music legend by snapping up copies of his albums - 16 of which are set to enter the top 100 according to midweek predictions.

In tribute to the late star whose music looks set to dominate the Official Charts this week - PPL has compiled its own top ten of the Most Played Prince Tracks of the 21st century.

Aggregated using the music licensing company's exclusive UK airplay data, the chart collates Prince tunes which have been played in public (in pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shops, offices and many other business types) as well as broadcast on TV and radio since the year 2000.

Topping PPL's chart is 1999 - the title track from Prince’s 1982 album of the same name.

And here's the full top ten Most Played Prince Tracks of the 21st century:

1. 1999 (1982)
