A TERMINALLY ill Blackheath grandmother has two dying wishes – to have a family holiday and to be reunited with her long lost brother.

Sharon Dixon, aged 46, has a blood clot which doctors cannot treat, and have told her it will eventually travel to a vital organ and kill her.

The mother-of-three, who has four young grandchildren and another on the way, said: “If they tried to get rid of the clot it would break up and could kill me straight away.

“The doctors have given me a year – I’m living on borrowed time and every day is a bonus.”

Mrs Dixon, who suffered a major stroke when she was only 39, and has had several minor strokes since, said: “It is very hard to deal with, and I’m very grateful to my family.

“I couldn’t cope without them – and the Macmillan nurses who are wonderful."

Mrs Dixon, who lives in Stylehouse Crescent with husband Richard and youngest daughter Kristal, aged 22, was separated from her brother, Michael, when they were young children.

They were reunited as adults, but Mrs Dixon said it felt “awkward” because they didn’t know each other and they drifted apart.

But she added: “I am desperate to see him again now – he will be 43 – and I’ve no idea where he is.”

Her brother’s full name is Michael Edward Paul Perks and she appealed to him or anyone with information about him to get in touch.

With so little time left, next on her wish list is a week-long holiday in Cornwall with all her family – including older children Zara, aged 26, and Zac, aged 24.

Mrs Dixon, who walks with the aid of sticks and uses a wheelchair for longer distances, has set up an online giving page Sharon’s last blast which can be found at gofundme.com She hopes to raise £5,000 for the holiday, which would include renting a cottage and hiring a minibus to transport the large family.

Mrs Dixon would also like to buy a video camera and make memory boxes for her grandchildren, the eldest of whom is just seven.

Determined to make the most of the time she has left, her other dreams include having a helicopter ride.

Anyone with information about her brother can contact her on 07961 357151.
