A BLUETOOTH fraudster from Rowley Regis was nabbed by police attempting to take a driving test theory illegally.

Sarbjit Singh, of Regis Heath Road, has been jailed for 32 months at Hereford Crown Court for theory test fraud.

He was arrested in April when investigators from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) assisted by West Mercia Police, attended Worcester driver theory test centre.

During questioning he was linked to 10 other incidences of theory test Bluetooth fraud at theory test centres in Uxbridge, Milton Keynes, Harrogate, Stratford, Cheltenham, Builth Wells and Worcester.

Singh was charged with 10 offences of fraud by false representation for each theory test undertaken and one count of obstructing police, which related to giving false identity details to police.

DVSA’s head of counter fraud Andy Rice said: “Although instances of Bluetooth fraud are rare in relation to the 1.8 million theory tests which are taken each year, DVSA continues to take them seriously, and work closely with the police to bring offenders to justice.

“This sentence sends out a clear message that those who put road users and the public at risk by cheating the driving test process, will be pursued and prosecuted.”
