A CAT food brand has updated its recall on cat food to included an extra product which could cause diarrhoea and vomiting.

Hill’s Pet Nutrition is now also voluntarily recalling its Science Plan Feline 11+ Healthy Ageing Chicken and with Salmon Multi Pack because it has higher levers of iron than those declared on the packet.

The twelve pack of 85g pouches have the SKU code 2190V and an expiry date of September 2017

The earliest this product was available for sale in the United Kingdom and Ireland is May 2016.

Iron is an essential nutrient in a cat’s diet but too much iron may cause digestive upset.

If fed as the sole source of nutrition, this may have a more serious health effect, including diarrhoea and vomiting.

This is a precautionary measure.

The company recalled certain packs of cat food pouches in May 2016 because there were high levels of iron present in the pet food as a result of an error by an ingredient supplier.

Hill’s Pet Nutrition has tested additional products and identified one additional date code of affected product.
