FAMILY, friends and schoolteachers all wore colours to celebrate the life of tragic Halesowen schoolgirl Phoebe Connop today (Tuesday).

The 16-year-old Windsor High School pupil, who died suddenly at home on July 7, was a prefect and award-winning gymnast.

Her love for dancing was captured at her funeral held at Zion Christian Centre, Halesowen, when a video was shown to the congregation of her performing a sequence.

Over a hundred people packed the church with several of her fellow Windsor pupils visibly upset during proceedings as pictures flashed up of Phoebe on screens.

Everyone was given a chance to write a message on colour pieces of paper which were taped to her coffin.

Liz Thompson, from Unity Ceremonies, took the service and regaled the audience with stories of Phoebe's childhood in Halesowen and previously on a farm in Shropshire.

Family friend David Tovey read statements from Phoebe's father Laurie and brother Sean.

Her father said: "Phoebe was fearless and loved the outdoors, whether it be at a festival or leaping into the sea.

"She was had a huge heart and had so much affection for everyone she met.

He added: "All the messages of sympathies we have received showed how many people she touched in her short life."

Windsor High School headteacher Stephen Lanckham spoke at length about the impact Phoebe had teachers and pupils.

He said: "She was a talented pupil and teachers quickly singled her out to be prefect material because of the positive impact she had on people and a dedication to do well..

"She had that rare quality to get on with both teachers and pupils and was a joy to teach.

"She would often be helping out teachers before and after school to ensure everything went well in class."

He added: "When we remember Phoebe we do not just remember her smiling, we remember her beaming."

Phoebe's favourite songs were played throughout the service including The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup, Silentó Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), Halo by Beyonce and Work by Rhianna.
