THE brilliance of Buster Keaton will be in full effect this weekend when his seminal comedy The General is shown in Sandwell.
On Saturday night at West Bromwich Town Hall, High Street, at 6pm there will be a special screening of the 1926 slapstick comedy with live accompaniment from Paul Shallcross on the piano.
The film is based on the Great Locomotive Chase, which happened in 1862, and stars Buster Keaton who co-directed it with Clyde Bruckman.
The screening is part of the Flatpack Film Festival and the town hall will be transformed into a multiplex with a difference from 11am onwards.
A range of screenings and activities will take over spaces throughout the building, ranging from 1902 footage of West Bromwich High Street to Jambo Cinema, a unique South Asian home viewing experience complete with chai and samosas.
Entry is free throughout the day but tickets are £6 for The General.
