OLYMPIAN Greg Rutherford, EastEnders actress Tameka Empson and Birds Of A Feather’s Lesley Joseph have joined the line-up of Strictly Come Dancing.

The trio appeared alongside presenters Alex Jones and Patrick Kielty on The One Show to announce that they had signed up for the BBC programme.

All three were stood behind a screen and called out one by one.

KERRY Howard, the actress who plays a young Hyacinth Bucket in the Keeping Up Appearances prequel, has described Patricia Routledge’s response to the new drama as “sad”.

Young Hyacinth is one of the comedies announced for the BBC’s landmark sitcom season, with the corporation revisiting much-loved classics such as Are You Being Served? and Porridge.

The one-off episode is set before Hyacinth married long-suffering Richard and becomes a suburban snob. It sees her as a young woman living in poverty in a gloomy house in the 1950s with her drunken father and three sisters.

Earlier this year, Patricia suggested that she was unimpressed with the idea of the corporation revisiting some of Britain’s best-loved TV series.

A BLACK Country comics gag about heart donation has been named the funniest joke of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Comedian Masai Graham scored the top comedy prize, whose previous winners included Tim Vine, Zoe Lyons and Rob Auton.

Masai, from West Bromwich, scored the ninth annual award for Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe after 27 per cent of respondents backed the line: “My dad suggested I register for a donor card – he’s a man after my own heart.”

MRS Brown’s Boys has beaten The Office and Gavin & Stacey to be named best British sitcom of the 21st century.

The BBC One show, starring creator Brendan O’Carroll as foul-mouthed Irish matriarch Agnes Brown, attracts millions of viewers and has spawned a successful movie despite being dismissed by critics.

Brendan deemed the result of the poll “breathtaking…”

HARRY Potter actor Rupert Grint is to star in a television remake of Guy Ritchie’s film Snatch.

Rupert, who played Harry’s sidekick Ron Weasley in the film series about the boy wizard, will also serve as an executive producer on the TV show, which airs on Sony’s streaming network Crackle next year.

Scottish actor Dougray Scott and Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick also have roles in the series.
