MOTORISTS are facing misery this afternoon in Halesowen, Oldbury and Quinton after two HGV lorries crashed on the M5.

The M5 northbound closed motorway between J2 Oldbury and J1 West Bromwich with delays of 2.5 hours from J3 Halesowen.

Also the M5 Northbound entry slip road is blocked due to an accident at J3 and A456.

The entry slip road from the A456 onto the northbound M5 is blocked.

And there are delays of 25 minutes in Oldbury on Wolverhampton Road towards Birchley Island from Quinton with queues from Tividale and Blackheath.

Incident Commander Russ Edwards said two appliances from Oldbury Fire Station attended the crash around midday.

He said: “It was an RTC on the M5 involving two HGVs. Nobody was injured but one man had slight abrasions to the head and face and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up.

“Unfortunately all lanes had to be closed due to the hydraulic oil and engine oil that had spilled from the second vehicle.

“The oil tanks had split spilling on the motorway and he had to contain the spillage and stop it going into the drains and affecting the waiter system.

“We worked with the Highways Agencies.”

Update: 16.55 - The northbound carriageway has reopened but motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible.
